Growing Up: Thriantas at 3 Months

Really happy with how these guys are turning out. I definitely have my favorites! Can’t wait to put them on the show table in December.

  1. Hi,I just love those Thriantas rabbits.I wanted to buy a pair of them a few months ago but I just couldn’t travel the distance at the time. Are they as laid back as I heard or do they more often have the redhead rabbit temperment? You know its an odd thing.Over 10 years ago while at a rabbit show here in the South a breeder or maybe a judge talked about having been to the Netherlands and gotten some beautiful special red rabbits. She was asking help to get the standard translated.A good friend of mine Dr.Matthew Vriends from the Netherlands has written in English a bunch of books on bird keeping.I got the standard for this request and asked him to translate it for the person.I would not doubt but what it was for this breed.I doult he was given reconition but this really happened. I wish I knew.

    • The Thriantas definitely have a personality, and if not handled from an early age it seems like that personality can go south, for sure! BUT, if they are handled, the personality is a real plus. They are a lot of fun, very bold, not fearful or skittish. One of the little 3 month old babies I have now totally bosses around my 80 lb dog! The sire, Frank, has an attitude problem sometimes if you carelessly reach into his cage, but even he is easy to handle and not a fearful, skittish rabbit.

It does sound like your friend translated the standard! How cool. Thanks for commenting!
